ROGER DALTREY RECEIVES GOLD BADGE AWARD (Roger Daltrey) Legendary The Who star Roger Daltrey has collected a prestigious award for his contribution to musical entertainment.
The rock hero - who is still lead singer of the iconic band - scooped a coveted Gold Badge Award from The British Academy of Composers and Songwriters.
The 61-year-old - who has also been made a Commander of The British Empire (CBE) for his services to music, the entertainment industry and charity - collected the accolade at a star-studded bash at London's swanky Savoy Hotel last night (26.10.05).
Earlier this year Daltrey revealed he refuses to listen to music by The Who - because he hates his singing voice.
The rocker said still enjoys touring but cringes whenever he hears their old hits.
He confessed: "I never play Who songs for pleasure. If I walk into a barbers and hear one of our songs, I think, 'Christ, not that again'. You have to understand I don't like the sound of my voice. It sounds horrible to me." (Roger Daltrey [10/27/2005])
