Rocker Steve Tyler's childhood friends - were deer and raccoons.

The wild musician, who recently became a grandfather after his daughter, actress Liv Tyler, gave birth to her first child, said he grew up in the middle of nowhere and spent more time with animals than people.

He revealed: "I'm really just a country boy. I grew up in New Hampshire, America. My closest neighbor was a mile away. The deer and the raccoons were my friends."

He added to America's Boston Common magazine: "I would spend time walking through the woods, looking for the most beautiful tropical things."
