Concerns that the soccer star - who moves Stateside in the summer after signing a deal with Los Angeles Galaxy - could become a target for criminals have resulted in heightened safety precautions.

A source told Britain's Daily Star newspaper: "Security is the Beckhams' top priority. They'll cut absolutely no corners on this subject. Only the best will do, and then some."

David's new bosses are taking steps to ensure the stadium where he is ultra-secure. Metal detectors are being installed at every entrance.

David and wife Victoria, who have three sons, have reportedly hired a top security team to prepare for their new life in the US.

The family will have round-the-clock protection from a team of minders - which include former CIA operatives. And their new home will be kitted out with "fortress-style" locks and alarms.
