The "Lyla" rockers will kick off their string of shows in support of forthcoming new album, "Dig Out Your Soul," in Liverpool on October 7 – the day after the album is released.

It had previously been rumored the band would start the tour in their home city of Manchester, but a source said: "They are proud of their roots, but they dig Liverpool too and thought they would kick it off there."

The tour - the band's first in three years - will then call at arenas in Sheffield, Birmingham, London, Bournemouth, Cardiff, Belfast and Aberdeen, before ending in Glasgow SECC on November 5.

Tickets for the 18-date run of concerts go on sale at 9am on Wednesday (August 20, 2008).

Oasis' new single, "The Shock of the Lightning," received its first radio play earlier today (August 15, 2008) ahead of its release on September 29.
