Francine Joy Drescher was born September 30, 1957 to Morty and Sylvia Drescher in Flushing, Queens, New York. She has an older sister, Nadine. As a child she always watched I Love Lucy. When she started High School at Hillcrest she joined a performing group. She would do any job she was told to do if it meant moving boxes. Teachers told her she was a talented actress but she had to get rid of her thick Queens accent. Fran didn't listen. To promote herself, Fran entered a teen beauty contest. She won second place but when she was trying to get an agent she would tell them that she was Miss Teen New York. Her boyfried Peter Marc Jacobson and Fran would go to New York for auditions. To have something to fall back on, they went to Beauty Culture School. In 1978 Fran moved to Hollywood. Shortly after, Peter joined her.

After six years of dating they married. When Fran went on auditions, her Queens accent was holding her back. She tried to learn to talk without her accent. January 5, 1985, Fran and Peter were intruded and robbed. Fran was raped. They moved in with their friends Dan Akroyd and Donna Dixon. Fran said, "Only if I wrote my own product, their was no way anyting would come along and suite me." Fran took a trip to Europe to visit her friend Twiggy. Since Twiggy was away on modeling jobs, Fran spent her time with Twiggy's teenage age daughter. This inspired her to create "The Nanny." In 1996 Fran and Peter separated. The divorced in October of 1999. In June of 2000 Fran had a cancerous tumor removed. She doesn't have any children but says her dog Chester is the best $500 dollars she ever spent.
