After ending his seven-year run as host of It's Showtime at the Apollo and his six-year run of the WB's The Steve Harvey Show, the Grammy nominated, Original King of Comedy Steve Harvey remains one of the busiest comedians in Hollywood. Currently, Harvey is the host and executive producer of The WB's new talk/variety show Steve Harvey's Big Time. He has also been chosen as the national spokesperson for Burger King and the spokesperson for GMC's Yukon Denali. Harvey is in the process of putting out his own clothing line, The Steve Harvey Collection.
Harvey has turned his two comedy specials, HBO Comedy Half-Hour and Steve Harvey: One Man into a platinum selling DVD. He hosts the #1 morning drive radio show in Los Angeles on 100.3 FM's "The Beat" and has produced an album with MCA records entitled Sign of Things to Come, released in June of 2002, featuring such stars as Mary J. Blige, Carl Thomas, Dave Hollister, Angie Stone, Yolanda Adams, Fabolus and many more.
Raised in Cleveland, Ohio, Harvey earned a nomination for a 1995 People's Choice Award for Favorite Male Performer in a New Television Series for his first prime-time television venture, the highly acclaimed comedy series Me and The Boys. As star of The Steve Harvey Show, he has won four NAACP Image Awards as Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series, and one for Outstanding Variety Series for It's Showtime at the Apollo. Critics praised Harvey for his positive portrayal of African-Americans on The Steve Harvey Show, which received four Image Awards. In 2001, Harvey received the ultimate honor of his career to date, the NAACP Image Award for Entertainer of the Year. Also in 2001, Harvey and his producing partner/manager Rushion McDonald (who is also an executive producer on Steve Harvey's Big Time) created the Hoodie Awards, an annual awards show honoring local business establishments, churches and high schools for their contributions to various neighborhoods within the greater Los Angeles area. Harvey has served as a host to the Hoodie Awards, as well as numerous other awards shows including the Essence Awards and the B.E.T. Awards.
In addition to his television variety show, Harvey has also starred with Cuba Gooding Jr. and Beyonce Knowles in The Fighting Temptations. He played the father of Nick Cannon in Love don't Cost a Thing. He co-starred in the hit comedy Johnson Family Vacation, starring Cedric the Entertainer, and You Got Served B2K final performance together. The versitile entertainer is currently filming Racing Stripes, slated for release in 2005.
