    Biography of Victoria Beckham

  • Background:

Known as Posh Spice in the once pop phenomenon Spice Girls, Victoria Beckham gained her worldwide fame as one of the Spice Girls as well as being Mrs. Victoria Beckham. Her personal life with soccer star husband, David Beckham, became appetizing news for the press and public eye.

Victoria likes spending time with family and friends, shopping, smiling and performing. She enjoys expensive clothes and makeup and is happiest when buying from Gucci or Harvey Nichols. Her clothes generally show off her legs. She reportedly spent a surprising $42,500 on a two-hour Christmas shopping spree in London, buying luxury gifts for herself and her husband.

Recently Victoria starred in a public service television broadcast that urges the Chinese society to show more love and care for children stricken with leukemia. Together with her husband, Victoria also appeared as the holy couple, Mary and Joseph, in a waxwork nativity scene at the Madame Tussaud's museum. A visitor later attached the scene and Church leaders condemned the nativity which portrayed David Beckham as Joseph and Victoria as the Virgin Mary. Anglicans, Catholics and Presbyterians called the exhibit a new low in the cult of celebrity worship.

    Childhood and Family:

Victoria Caroline Adam, who's father is a very successful electrical wholesale business owner, would beg her father not to drive her to school in their Rolls Royce because the other children would laugh and make fun of her.

As a well-to-do but normal child, Victoria was enrolled in a ballet school when she was young and did quite well academically. Victoria was unpopular in school and was mocked because of acne. Victoria was also the butt of many jokes because of her nose and gained the nickname "Sticky Vicky."

Victoria was born on April 17th, 1975 in Hertfordshire, England.

Victoria studied at the Jason Theatre School and then moved on to the Laine Arts Theatre College where she also dipped into dance and modeling. Victoria married David Beckham, a well-known soccer player, on July 4, 1999. The couple later welcomed their two baby boys, Brooklyn and Romeo.

    Career:

In March 1993, Victoria, together with the other members of Spice Girls excluding Emma, answered and auditioned for an advertisement in "The Stage," an English Magazine, which was looking for five women who could sing and dance, to form a group. Victoria and the other girls won the audition. Emma later replaced Michelle who decided to leave the group because of an ill family member and because she wanted to attend College.

At first the girls worked with terrible managers who supplied them with outrageous songs and forced them to follow the uniform costume rule. Finally in March 1995, they arrived at a management company led by Annie Lennox. The Spice Girls arrived after a deal with Virgin Records was signed in August 1995.

In 1996 the debut album titled Spice was released. The first single "Wannabe" was a smash hit in the US and abroad. Victoria, together with Emma, Geri, and the two Mels, gained instant success while changing the look of pop culture and drawing a new meaning to the phrase "girl power." The Spice Girls sold over 35 million albums and 25 million singles worldwide.

Unfortunately, their large success didn't last long. After the worldwide tours, millions of albums sold and the release of the movie Spiceworld, Geri 'Ginger Spice' Halliwel decided to leave the group in May 1998 and left behind a large void in the group. The four remaining members released the album Forever in 2000 which received an unenthusiastic response. After Forever, the rest of the Spice Girls split up to pursue solo careers.

After the split, Victoria 'Posh Spice' Adam released an autobiography, Learning To Fly. In 2001 she released a solo album, Victoria Beckham, which spawned the hit singles "Not Such An Innocent Girl" and "A Mind Of Its Own."

Victoria enjoys life as Mrs. Victoria Beckham and announced that she would give up her music career to focus on being a fashion designer.

"My crystal ball tells me I'll be sensible with success and not squander all my money." Victoria Adams
